Frequently asked questions

Short, honest answers. If your question isn't here, ask us on WhatsApp.

General

How does Schengenie work?

You tell us where you're going and when. We send you a checklist for your trip, check your documents and help you fill in the application form. Then we book your appointment in your own name on the official website, and the confirmation comes to you directly.

On the day, you go to the visa centre or consulate in person to hand in your application. If you only need an appointment, we can do just the booking.

What's the difference between your fee and the official fees?

Our fee pays for our service: preparing your file and booking your appointment. It depends on the destination and the service, and we tell you what it is before you start.

The official fees, such as the visa fee and the visa centre's service fee, are separate. They're set by the consulate and the visa centre, and you pay them directly.

Work permits for Portugal and Poland

Who is your work permit service for?

For people who already have a job offer from an employer in Portugal or Poland. We finalize your work permit and all the paperwork.

What does the work permit service include?

The work permit and all the paperwork it needs. We work from the embassy's own document list, check each document with you, tell you what needs translating or legalising, and fill in the form with you.

For Poland, we do your type A permit, and you then apply at the Polish embassy in Cairo. An appointment isn't part of our Poland service. For Portugal, you apply at VFS Global in Cairo or Alexandria, and we book the appointment in your own name.

Schengen tourist visas

Which countries do you help with?

For Schengen tourist visas, we help with Greece. Coming soon: France and Spain.

A Schengen visa usually lets you visit all the Schengen countries, but you apply to the country where you'll spend the most time. We'll help you work out which one that is.

Which documents will I need?

It depends on the country, the purpose of your trip and your situation, for example whether you're employed, self-employed, a student or retired. Once you tell us about your trip, we send you a checklist for your case.

Your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years, be valid for at least 3 months after you leave the Schengen area, and have at least 2 blank pages. Most applications also need recent photos, travel medical insurance, bank statements and proof of your job or studies.

How long does it take?

It depends on when appointments become available and how long the consulate takes to decide. Waiting times change with the country and the season.

Under EU rules, consulates usually decide within 15 days of receiving your application, and it can take up to 45 days in some cases. You can apply up to 6 months before your trip, so it's best to start early, especially for summer and holidays.

What does your fee pay for?

Our work, your work permit and, for Portugal and tourist visas, your appointment. Official fees are paid separately.

When we book for you, we do it in your own name, with your details, on the official website, and the confirmation comes to you directly.

Can you help with applications for children?

Yes. A parent or legal guardian applies on the child's behalf. Consulates usually ask for extra documents for anyone under 18, such as the birth certificate and written consent from the parents. We'll tell you exactly what your destination asks for.

What if my visa is refused?

The consulate gives you a letter with the reasons and explains how to appeal. If you'd like to apply again, we'll go through the reasons with you first.

Privacy

What personal data do you ask for?

Only what your application needs, such as your passport details, travel plans and the documents on your checklist. We use them to prepare your application and book your appointment, and for nothing else.

Should I send my documents in my first message?

No. Please don't send passport copies or other documents until we've talked about your trip and told you exactly what we need.

Can I ask you to delete my data?

Yes. You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it. Email us and our privacy policy explains the rest.
